Randy Strauss

Currently Randy serves as a Commissioner of the Hillsboro Inlet District. The Hillsboro Inlet District is a special tax district whose mission is to establish, construct, operate, and maintain improvements necessary for the preservation of navigation, safe sand bypassing, and drainage at the Hillsboro Inlet. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Broward Hundred Club, and has served as a past president. This is an organization that provides a measure of comfort to the needs of those first responders who daily risk their lives in the service of others. The Club does this by providing direct financial assistance to families of law enforcement officers and firefighters who have lost their lives or have been permanently disabled in the line of duty in Broward County, Florida. He serves on the Board of Directors for Broward Children’s Center, a center that provides necessary quality care to special needs children and young adults. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Fish Florida, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports organizations that teach people, especially children, about Florida’s fish and aquatic habitats through donations of fishing equipment, grants, and scholarships.

He is an associated member of the NFL Alumni Association, participating in the “Caring for Kids” fundraising for local children charities and needs. Randy enjoys his off time fishing and is a longtime member of the Lighthouse Point Saltwater Sportsman Association and a lifetime member of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA).

Randolph (Randy) Strauss is a full-time father to his two daughters, Danielle and Rebecca, in addition to being an attorney, an active community member, an avid angler, and an outdoor enthusiast. He is also an advocate for smart conservation and education. He has had the good fortune of growing up and raising his family in South Florida with its access to the rich outdoors.

As an attorney, Randy practices throughout Florida in civil litigation with a focus on insurance claims, eminent domain, and personal injury. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1984 and received his law degree in 1989 from Nova Southeastern University.

Growing up in South Florida, Randy spent most of his time with his family in and on the waters of South Florida, the Keys and the Bahamas. This time and experience helped develop his passion for the marine environment. Some of his favorite memories include bass fishing the canals and lakes of Coral Springs and Loxahatchee, diving the Boca inlet, and fishing offshore Pompano with his father and later with his daughters for sport and table fare. Today, Randy fishes as often as possible in South Florida, the Bahamas, Mexico, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Panama, Australia, Hawaii, and Nicaragua, including fishing the last ten years on the highly successful Sir Reel fishing tournament team.

While he is indeed a passionate angler, Randy is a staunch advocate for conservation and education, with an eye on preserving and maintaining natural habitats and Florida’s ecosystem for future generations.
